Iea World Energy Outlook 2024. Global gas demand is projected to rise by more than 2.5 per cent in 2024, with a similar growth expected in 2025, according to the latest edition of the international. Globally, annual renewable power capacity additions would need to reach an average of 1 066 gw per year from 2023 to 2050 under the 1.5°c scenario.

In the iea’s net zero emissions by 2050 scenario, a pathway aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5 °c, electricity’s share in final energy consumption nears 30% in 2030. It is accompanied by a similarly positive outlook for carbon intensity.
